The Ice-Out De-Icer & Surface Aerator is a great solution for both aerating your water and maintaining it free of ice. During the Spring, Summer and Fall, it will circulate and aerate over 600 gallons of water per minute, and during Winter, it will aerate the same amount of water while simultaneously maintaining an ice-free area of up to 4000 square feet. Even in sub-zero weather, it will be able to maintain at least a 50-foot, ice-free diameter. Advantages: Keeping your waterspace aerated will reduce muck, algae, duckweed, and “pond smells” as well as deter mosquitoes from breeding there. Keeping your water ice-free will allow fish to survive and thrive through the winter, as well as protect boats, docks, piers, etc. from ice damage and allow for year-round use. It can also create an excellent open waterspace to attract birds and waterfowl. The positive environmental impact is another plus; the Ice-Out will help avoid “winter kill,” the number one cause of fish and aquatic species death, by allowing oxygen transfer to take place. This is only made possible when ice is out and water is kept open. How does it work?: During Spring, Summer, and Fall, the Ice-Out is submerged at or near the surface of your lake and pond, constantly agitating and circulating water to mix it with air, thus providing aeration. During Winter, the Ice-Out draws warm water from the depths of your lake or pond upwards, agitating and warming the waters’ surface to keep it free of ice and preventing stratification. The Ice-Out’s design is unique in that it focuses on using mother nature to its benefit; unlike deicers that use a closed, bucket-shaped design that merely agitates surface water near the top end of the unit, the Ice-Out utilizes an open-body design that allows water to flow through the unit, increasing the amount of water circulation possible and also allowing the unit to draw warmer water from the depths to more effectively melt surface ice. Equipment: The Ice-Out Aerator & deicer offers more than just an efficient design. It utilizes a powerful, 1 HP stainless steel motor that runs on standard 110-volt power (220-volt also available) and features an automatic thermal shut-down for maximum protection. It also comes standard with a 100-foot power cord, 100% marine-grade stainless steel hardware, and 50 feet of polypropylene rope for mounting. Like all Admiral Lake and Pond products, our Ice-Out De Icer and Surface Aerators are hand-assembled right here in the USA, one unit at a time. Comparing the Ice-Out to competing units, notice that Admiral offers as standard equipment what others consider, “upgrades”. Some examples include a longer power cord, more mounting rope, and most notably, a larger motor that reaches higher RPMS (3450) for a greater flow rate – more than 600 gallons per minute. Finally, the motor is backed by our 3-year Warranty and all structural components and stainless steel hardware is warranted for life – the only warranty of its kind in the industry. Mounting Options and Installation: The standard tie-up mount is included in the original purchase price. Mounting via the tie-up method is achieved by tying rope ends to 2 points across from each other so that the Ice-Out will remain in the desired position. For aeration, the best position is approximately 6 inches underwater. For de-icing, the Ice-Out should be positioned 2-4 feet underwater, suspended beneath your dock, boatlift, yacht, or open water. The third rope included is used to change the vertical angle of the Ice-Out. When the rope is pulled upwards, the Ice-Out will move water at varying angles, up to a full horizontal position. This can be helpful to move seasonal “floaties” on the waters’ surface or, in Winter, to open ice in longer channels, along docks, piers, etc. Apart from the standard tie-up option, we also offer a variety of other mounting options (sold separately) for the Ice-Out: The Dock Deck Mount Kit, ideal for no-hassle dock use, gives you 360-degree rotation control and 6 feet of depth control while standing on your dock. The Dock Leg Mount Kit, a more simplistic, static mount to attach to dock legs, will support 360-degree rotation of the Ice-Out. The Aluminum Disk Kit, a standalone mount that will sit at the bottom of the lake, pond, etc., and allow for 360 degree rotation – ideal for standalone situations and shallow lakes and ponds. Maintenance: No oil changes or maintenance are necessary other than an occasional propeller replacement. The unit does not require special wiring or electrical services, either.
