This very good IOW book covers the 1942 Allied raid on the German-held French port of Dieppe. The Allies were under severe pressure from the embattled Soviet Union to take action against German-held Western Europe. Operation Jubilee went through several modifications before its final execution. From a tactical point of view, the operation was a disaster, decimating the valiant 2nd Canadian Division. From a strategic perspective, Jubilee wrote in blood the significant requirements for an Allied return to France.
