Rare Mid-Century British Industrial Engineers Desk Lamp

A proper mid-century British industrial engineers desk lamp, stamped “British Made – 1280” and built exactly as you’d expect – heavy steel arms, a solid metal shade and the sort of honest wear that only comes from years on an engineer’s workbench. The original black paint is beautifully worn and flaking in all the right places, giving it that perfect lived-in industrial look. Originally these lamps would have been bolted straight onto factory or workshop benches so engineers could direct light exactly where they needed it. This one has been cleverly mounted onto a simple wooden base so it now works well as a desk or studio lamp while still keeping all that workshop character intact. Rewired, PAT tested and ready to go, it’s one of those pieces that looks effortlessly cool wherever you put it – study desk, design studio, kitchen worktop or alongside a stack of old engineering manuals if you want to go full vintage workshop chic.
