Early Scumble Finish Anglepoise Desk Lamp by Herbert Terry, c.1930s

This early scumble finish Anglepoise desk lamp by Herbert Terry dates to the 1930’s and is a beautifully honest example of British industrial design at its best. Retaining its original hand-applied scumble paintwork throughout, the lamp has developed a rich, naturally aged patina that gives it real depth and character. The lamp is clearly stamped “The Anglepoise Patent”, confirming its early production, and features exposed springs, a heavy cast base, and the classic articulated form that made Anglepoise lamps so revolutionary. It has been sympathetically rewired with period-appropriate braided flex and is fully functional, making it as practical as it is decorative.
